UCB hopes for a brighter 2021

After a year of Covid-cancelled events and rehearsals, Uckfield Concert Brass is looking forward with hope.

Band chairman, Paul Labus, told the band’s online AGM this evening:

“We hope 2021 will be a lot better than this year.”

Next year’s diary already includes concerts on Eastbourne bandstand and at Uckfield Civic Centre. The band is also booked to play for the Elderflower Fields Festival, a wedding and Lewes bonfire.

The meeting re-elected last year’s committee:

Paul Labus – chairman
Dave Pattenden – treasurer
Edwina Wooler – secretary
Karen Packer – librarian
Simon Kahn – property officer
Rob Brown – business manager
June Card – safeguarding officer
Other committee members – Richard Sherlock and Ruth Hayhurst

The annual award for most improved player was held over to next year. The award to the player “yet to go down the pan” went to the band as a whole.

Musical director Nick Morris said:

“We are still here, we have survived, we will not be druv.”

The meeting also adopted the band’s safeguarding policy.
