Uckfield Concert Brass marked the hundredth anniversary of the end of World War 1 with a commemorative concert at the town’s Holy Cross Church.
The band joined Uckfield Choral Society for a performance of excerpts from The Armed Man, the mass for peace by Karl Jenkins.
This was followed by an arrangement of the hymn St Clements and Elgar’s Nimrod by UCB’s musical director, Nick Morris.
The audience and choir accompanied the band for war-time favourites in Oh! What A Lovely War and Songs of the Great War.
UCB’s principal cornet, Neal Bland (left), played The Last Post and Reveille, before the band and choral society performed Hymn To The Fallen, by John Williams, from the film Saving Private Ryan.
The evening also featured readings and period songs from the choral society and Uckfield Singers.
Thanks to the band’s friends, who joined us for the concert, and to Anthony Roberts, who conducted the band’s joint items with the choral society.
