Brassed Off!
UCB was delighted to be a key part of Uckfield Theatre Guild‘s production of Brassed Off, a play based on the 1990s film of the same name.
The three-night run, based on the 1990s film about Grimley Colliery Band, played to enthusiastic audiences at Uckfield Civic Centre. The band and players received a standing ovation on the final night.
UCB performed all the music in the show, including the opening march Death Or Glory, the beautiful flugel solo, Concierto de Aranjuez (or D’Orange juice), Rossini’s William Tell Overture and the closing Pomp And Circumstance March by Elgar.
The band also had the task of playing three versions of the march Slaidburn through the audience, where the standard of music deliberately got worse, naturally a very difficult task that required an extreme amount of effort to achieve…
