Uckfield Concert Brass is proud to support Brass Band Aid for Ukraine!

Ukraine Fundraiser 2022 was set up in March 2022 by Mike & Annie Hockham to collect and deliver aid by van to Ukraine. Mike was a well known tenor horn and soprano cornet player in Sussex prior to moving to the North West and is a personal friend of UCB vice president and cornet player, Andy Wooler.

In December last year, Andy joined the team and set up the Brass Band Aid project, following a suggestion from UCB and the project now has five musical groups regularly collecting aid.

He said:

“During my first visit last December, I visited the towns around Bucha which was under Russian control at the start of the war. It was a profoundly moving experience to stand amongst the remains of civilian apartment blocks where hundreds were killed and from that moment, I became committed to helping the people of Ukraine”

Since then, Andy has completed 5 runs into Kyiv and is planning the next one for August.

UCB members have contributed for every run including generators, electric wheelchairs, food, bedding, clothes, pampers, hygiene items, dog food  and medical items.
