Sussex sketches

Emily and her mentor, Fraser Trainer (pictured centre), worked with the band on two musical sketches, reflecting the coast and the county’s anthem, Sussex By The Sea. Groups of players and musical director, Nick Morris (pictured left) contributed ideas in a musical exercise.

The Adopt a Music Creator scheme, developed by Making Music, aims to break down traditional barriers between composers and performers.

UCB is one of four successful applicants for the 2024 scheme and the only brass group to be picked to take part.

Emily and Fraser will be returning for more UCB rehearsals as the piece develops. It will be premiered during 2024.
