Uckfield Concert Brass enjoyed playing the first movement of a new piece by the band’s adopted composer, Emily Hazrati.
Emily joined a rehearsal this evening, bringing with her Dawn, Wisdom, a suite being specially-written for the band.
The first movement, called Mist over the River Uck, combined two contrasting moods of warmth and menace.
Under Emily’s guidance, the cornet section experimented with different mutes to change the texture of the sound in one section.
The band is looking forward to playing future movements of the piece, when Emily returns to a rehearsal in May.
Dawn, Wisdom will be premiered by UCB at a concert later this year.
