Meeting our composer
Uckfield Concert Brass has met Emily Hazrati, the composer adopted by the band for 2024.
Emily attended a rehearsal as preparation for work on a piece she will be writing for the band, to be premiered later in the year.
She was joined for the visit by her mentor, Fraser Trainer, a composer and workshop leader with more than 20 years’ experience.
Emily talked to members of the band and watched as musical director, Nick Morris, rehearsed the band on a series of challenging pieces, including one of her own.
She plans to return in March with an early version of her piece.

UCB was matched with Emily as part of the Adopt a Music Creator scheme, developed by Making Music. The band is one of four successful applicants and the only brass group to be picked in 2024.
The scheme has been going for nearly 25 years. It is funded by the PRS Foundation and Philip and Dorothy Green Trust.
