“Brass Rascals” beginner band

One of the most important aspects of any brass band, or any musical organisation in fact, is its investment and commitment to bringing new players into the world of music-making. With music services across the country facing serious cuts and even closure, an even greater emphasis has been placed on musical organisations to provide opportunities for potential musicians, particularly young musicians.

It is with this in mind that Uckfield Concert Brass have formed their own beginner band, known as Brass Rascals, currently led by Julie Playford. The aim is simple: to allow opportunities for children and adults alike to experience music-making in a brass band setting, with the additional opportunity of joining the main band as and when players feel they have fledged the nest.

Brass Rascals rehearse Tuesday evenings, before the main band, at the Alma Arms, Uckfield (view on Google Maps) from 6.30pm – 7pm, with the advanced players group rehearsing from 7pm – 7.30pm. Anyone interested in joining can email [email protected] to touch base and find out more.
