Uckfield Concert Brass joined Rogerstone Community Band and Risca Male Choir for the dramatic finale of a concert near Newport, South Wales, on Saturday evening (14 April 2019).
About 90 musicians from the two bands and choir performed the Welsh hymn Tydi a Roddaist by Arwel Hughes.
The concert, the highlight of UCB’s weekend tour, raised more than £1,000 for St David’s Hospice Care.
It included a massed band set, with more than 50 players from UCB and Rogerstone, featuring Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, the festive prelude Ellacombe, eight trombonists playing the trio Blades of Toledo and ending with the march Death or Glory.
UCB’s set spotlighted solo horn, Debbie Chambers, playing Elton John’s Your Song. The band also played an arrangement of Simon and Garfunnkel’s Bridge over Troubled Water, along with Elvis Rocks and Amazing Grace.
Thanks to Rogerstone Band for organising the concert.
Before the concert, members visit Cardiff Bay and Tredegar House. Photos below by UCB chairman, Paul Labus, of Cardiff water front, the assembly building, pier-head building and Norwegian Church
Next stop on the tour is a concert at St Fagans, the national museum of Welsh history, near Cardiff. Thanks to our friends who joined us in Wales.
