UCB’s team, The Alma Knacks, won last week’s virtual inter-band quiz, against players from 10 other bands.

The weekly event, organised by Mid Sussex Brass Band, has been running for nine weeks during the Covid-19 lockdown.

UCB’s team was made up of musical director Nick Morris, band chairman Paul Labus, treasurer Dave Pattenden, secretary Edwina Wooler, librarian Karen Packer, principal horn Debbie Chambers, flugel Andy Bamford and bass trombone Stanford Jeffrey.

The team faced rounds on Brit Pop, the Midlands, the world last week, name the brass player, music and general knowledge. It said afterwards:

“Nick’s knowledge of Brit Pop was obviously what clinched it for us!”
